FEATURED PROJECT

Young’s Kitchen

Once a small galley kitchen that had little storage and was separated from the living room and dining room by a swing door, The Young’s wanted to have a great kitchen for the the vast amount of entertaining and baking they did.

Our Solutions

First improvement was to move the kitchen wall 7’ into the adjoining garage to make the kitchen twice its original size and open the entry from the dining room into the kitchen so it was no longer enclosed and separate but inviting and inclusive.

As the style of the house was rustic and natural with a twist of modern, a simple raised panel maple cabinet door was selected and a specially created stain applied to bring a deep rich tone to the cabinetry that matched the large farm table in the dining room and other wood furniture throughout the house. An entire wall of pantry was imperative to house all of the baking ingredients and extra baking equipment as well as a large island for the entire family to sit around in the kitchen to keep the cook company as well as offer ample room for spreading out when baking and decorating wedding cakes.

To add a few unexpected elements of interest, three of the upper cabinets had a specialty wavy glass set into the door to house the glassware, the toe kick was finished off with stainless steel to tie in the stainless steel appliances, a spice cabinet was set into the wall depth which also offered an easy pass through to toss dirty kitchen towels and napkins right onto the washer out in the garage, a couch was added for more comfortable sitting area for special recipe perusing and speakers were added in the ceiling so the entire family could dance in the kitchen!
